Why
My partner had just opened her partita IVA in regime forfettario, and needed a simple way to know how much to set aside for taxes and social security. Pivella started as an experiment in pure vibecoding: v1 was built entirely from the Claude iOS app.
Then reality kicked in
Deploy set up by hand on Netlify, GitHub Copilot for new features, conflicts to resolve in node_modules, a couple of undefined is not a function and a fair amount of hallucinations. Claude Code helped restructure the codebase, but some CSS and UI bugs just wouldn’t yield to prompting. My favorite: the AI could not vertically center three elements against each other. So I rolled up my sleeves and did it the old way.
Outcome
Free, open source, Italian taxes only, and your data stays on your computer. Today about 30 people use it every day. Not pure vibecoding in the end, but a tool I’m proud of.
